The Summary Tab lets you quickly set up 1, 2, 3 or 4 bands to get a quick overall picture of how your trading is going. It is the fastest way to take the pulse of your overall trading.
Think of a band as a period of time. Use the drop down menu at the top of each band to pick what time period you want to view.
To choose how many bands you want to work with, roll over the Forex Smart Tools logo at the top of the Log to see the sub-menu choices. You can choose up to 4 bands, each summarizing its own period of time. In this way you could easily compare:
- this week with last week, the week before and 3 weeks before
- the first week of the month with the first week of the last 3 months
- compare the first 3 months of a quarter to each other
- compare how you did in December last year to how you did in December the year before
- the possibilities are endless
The number of bands you see and what time period each band governs is chosen directly on the Summary tab. The content of the bands – which parameters to view and in what order to see them – is set up on the Setting menu: Summary (learn more).
Choose your broker or Broker Group (learn more) and your currency choice to display (learn more).
Equity Curves from the Summary Tab
You can view an equity curve from each Summary band by clicking the little red-green-blue bar icon to the right of each time dropdown menu.
Naturally each summary band will have its own equity curve because it’s showing you a unique time period.
If you are looking at the Summary tab and then generate a chart, then your chart window will show you the account name or group name for the date range you specified in the band of the summary window. It will not show you the account number, because on the Summary tab you can create groups of accounts, so any chart may actually contain several accounts. Because adding the account number(s) would get confusing in this case, account numbers were dropped in all cases for charts from this tab.
